Son of Peleg and father of Serug, part of the post-flood patriarchal line leading from Shem to Abraham. Reu lived 239 years and faithfully carried forward the messianic lineage through the generations following the dispersion at Babel. His life bridges the era of early post-flood humanity with the age of the patriarchs.
When Peleg was 30 years old, he became the father of Reu.Genesis 11:18 · Berean Standard Bible
When Peleg was 30 years old, he became the father of Reu. And after he had become the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters. When Reu was 32 years old, he became the father of Serug. And after he had become the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.
Humanity builds upward in defiance. God scatters them — and then quietly begins a new plan through one family line.
Reu is generation 16 of the 64 Scripture traces from Adam to Jesus, following Shelah → Eber → Peleg, and followed by Serug → Nahor → Terah. See the whole line.
