Judges · In the line to Jesus

Obed

Son of Boaz and Ruth, and grandfather of King David. Obed’s birth brought joy and restoration to his grandmother Naomi, who had lost everything in Moab. The women of Bethlehem declared that Obed would be ‘a restorer of life and a nourisher’ to Naomi. As the link between Ruth’s beautiful love story and the royal house of David, Obed occupies a pivotal place in the messianic genealogy.
