When the Assyrian king Sennacherib besieged Jerusalem with an overwhelming army, Hezekiah spread the threatening letter before the Lord in prayer. That night, an angel struck down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When later told he would die of illness, Hezekiah prayed with tears and God added fifteen years to his life. His story demonstrates the power of prayer in desperate circumstances.
