The last righteous king of Judah, who came to the throne at age eight and launched the most comprehensive religious reform in the nation’s history. When the Book of the Law was discovered during temple renovations, the teenage Josiah tore his robes in grief over how far Judah had strayed. He destroyed idols, demolished pagan shrines, and reinstituted the Passover on a scale not seen since Samuel’s day. Despite his faithfulness, he was killed in battle at Megiddo, and Judah fell rapidly into judgment after his death.

Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah, and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
