Then the two travelers shared everything that happened on the road — and how they recognized Jesus when He broke the bread.
They recognized Jesus in a meal shared together. There's something powerful about communion — whether at the Lord's table or around your own dinner table.

It all came down to bread being broken. That simple, sacred act opened their eyes. When you share a meal in Jesus' name, He's there too.

The phrase 'the breaking of the bread' (klasis tou artou) becomes a technical term for early Christian eucharistic fellowship (cf. Acts 2:42, 46), linking this recognition to ongoing worship practice.
