Upon arrival, they find the community already proclaiming that the Lord has truly risen (Greek: ontōs ēgerthē, 'really, actually was raised') and appeared to Simon.

Language and setting

This is the earliest reference to a resurrection appearance to Peter (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:5). The adverb ontōs ('really, truly') emphasizes the factual certainty the community has reached.
