Jesus opens the meal with a deeply personal confession: 'I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.' He's been looking forward to this moment.
Knowing everything that's about to happen to Him, Jesus' first concern is being with His friends. His longing is for connection, not escape.
