This salvation has been prepared (hētoimasas) before all peoples (kata prosōpon pantōn tōn laōn). The universal scope extends God's salvation beyond Israel to all nations.
The phrase echoes Isaiah 52:10 ('all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God'). Simeon's vision breaks through ethnic boundaries that many in his day would not have expected.
