The Last Night

Even though they won't listen, Jesus still tells them the truth: 'From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of God's power.' He's claiming the highest throne in the universe.
Standing bound before the court, Jesus declares He's about to take the most powerful seat in existence. The contrast between His current state and His claim is staggering.
Jesus speaks with breathtaking authority, claiming divine enthronement while standing as a beaten prisoner. His confidence comes from knowing what's real.
Imagine a prisoner in chains telling his judges, 'Actually, I'm about to sit on the throne of the universe.' Either it's the most delusional thing ever said, or it's the most important. Jesus says it because He knows where this story actually ends — not at a cross, but at God's right hand.
Despite refusing their game, Jesus makes a definitive declaration: 'apo tou nyn estai ho huios tou anthrōpou kathēmenos ek dexiōn tēs dynameōs tou theou' (from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God). This combines Daniel 7:13 with Psalm 110:1.
The phrase 'from now on' (apo tou nyn) is distinctly Lukan, indicating that Jesus' enthronement begins with His passion, not despite it. The 'right hand of power' is a reverential circumlocution for God's own throne.
Jesus makes His most exalted self-claim before the council, declaring His imminent enthronement at God's right hand using messianic proof-texts they would immediately recognize.
Having exposed their bad faith, Jesus nevertheless makes the most audacious claim possible. The man standing bound before them declares He will sit at God's right hand. The reversal is complete: they judge Him now, but He will judge them forever.
67“If You are the Christ, tell us.”

70So they all asked, “Are You then the Son of God?”
71“Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”
