Jesus adds: 'If anyone asks why you're untying it, just say: The Lord needs it.' He's thought of everything. There won't be any surprises.
These words carry more weight than a simple explanation. 'The Lord needs it' — Jesus is claiming authority over everything, even a donkey tied up in a village.
Jesus equips His disciples with the answer they'll need, revealing His authority and foresight.
Before the disciples even leave, Jesus gives them the exact words for the exact situation they'll face. He's in complete control of how His kingdom entrance unfolds.
Jesus anticipates the owners' question and provides the predetermined answer: 'The Lord needs it' (ho Kyrios autou chreian echei). The title 'Lord' (Kyrios) carries both a practical and a christological sense.

32So those who were sent went out and found it just as Jesus had told them.
33As they were untying the colt, its owners asked, “Why are you untying the colt?”
