Faith Like a Mustard Seed
Then Jesus said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well!” Luke 17:19 · Berean Standard Bible
Jesus tells him, 'Get up and go — your faith has made you well.' But the word He uses means more than physical healing — it means 'saved.' This man got something the other nine didn't.
All ten were healed physically, but only the one who came back in faith received the deeper gift: wholeness in every sense of the word.
Jesus speaks words of complete restoration — body and soul — to the one who had the faith to come back.
Ten were cleansed. One was saved. The difference wasn't the miracle — it was the response. Gratitude and faith took him beyond healing to salvation.
Jesus tells the Samaritan: 'Rise and go; your faith has made you well' (hē pistis sou sesōken se). The verb sōzō means both 'to heal' and 'to save,' suggesting the Samaritan received not just physical healing but spiritual salvation.
All ten were 'cleansed' (katharizō), but only this one is 'saved' (sōzō). The distinction implies that gratitude and faith-filled return to Jesus brought an additional, deeper healing beyond the physical.
Jesus addresses the Samaritan with words that pronounce both physical healing and spiritual wholeness, distinguishing his experience from the other nine.

20When asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs.
21Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
