Jesus draws a stark parallel: He speaks what He has seen in the Father's presence (para tō Patri), while they do what they have heard from their father (para tou patros), introducing the devastating contrast between two fatherhoods.

The shift from the Father (uppercase) to your father (lowercase/different father) sets up the explosive confrontation about their true spiritual paternity that climaxes in verse 44.

40But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing.
