Dan

The fifth son of Jacob, born to Rachel’s handmaid Bilhah. Jacob prophesied that Dan would ‘provide justice for his people.’ The tribe of Dan was known for its military prowess and eventually migrated north to conquer the city of Laish, renaming it Dan. The phrase ‘from Dan to Beersheba’ described the full extent of Israel’s territory.
