Son of Zerubbabel, listed in the genealogy of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. Abiud carried forward the royal Davidic line during the post-exilic period when Judah was under Persian rule. Though little is known about him from Scripture, his place in the genealogy demonstrates the unbroken continuity of God’s covenant promise through the generations between the exile and the birth of Christ.
