Joy in Scripture is stubborn. It shows up in prisons, famines and funerals.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
"Rejoice in the Lord Always"
Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.” Then Nehemiah told them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send out portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” And the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.” Then all the people began to eat and drink, to send out portions, and to rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.

Five verses. Pure praise. It asks for nothing. It simply overflows.
The final psalm. Every instrument, every breath, every living thing — one great chorus. This is how the songbook ends.
Three things go missing — a sheep, a coin, a son. The father's response in the last story is the heart of the gospel in a single embrace.
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Our mouths were filled with laughter. Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.
while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him with my song.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the schemes of men. You conceal them in Your shelter from accusing tongues.
Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces shall never be ashamed.
