I won't talk about anything except what I've actually seen Christ do—and what He's done is lead Gentiles into obedience through both what I've taught and how I've lived.

Why it's here

Paul is tying his authority directly to results. He's not claiming to be impressive or eloquent. He's saying: 'The proof is the fruit. Watch how people's lives change. That's Christ's work, not mine.' This is integrity—he's willing to be judged by outcomes.

This reflects Jesus's own approach—'You will know them by their fruits' (Matthew 7:16). Paul isn't asking for belief based on credentials or charisma. He's pointing to transformation in actual people.

Paul restricts his testimony to what Christ, not Paul himself, has accomplished—namely, bringing Gentiles to obedient faith through word and deed.

Language and setting

The phrase 'I will not presume' (tolmao legein) represents deliberate humility—Paul refuses to claim credit for what exceeds his capacity. The Gentiles' movement toward 'obedience' (hypakoe—literally 'hearing under,' fitting one's will beneath another's authority) constitutes the goal, not their intellectual assent alone. Word and deed—preaching and living witness—form an integrated apostolic practice.
