Because of what Christ has done through me, I find genuine joy and pride—not in myself, but in the fact that Christ is doing His work through me.

Paul isn't bragging here. He's expressing appropriate joy in participating in God's mission. He's saying: 'I'm honored to be part of what Christ is doing.' It's the joy of serving something bigger than yourself.

Language and setting

The verb 'exult' (kauchaomai—to boast, to glory) might seem prideful, but Paul immediately clarifies it is in Christ's accomplishment, not his own. The phrase 'in my service to God' (en tō diakonam mou) connects personal pride to cosmic purpose—his work matters because it serves God's telos. This represents confidence, not arrogance.

15However, I have written you a bold reminder on some points, because of the grace God has given me

16to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
