A nation is blessed—genuinely prosperous and protected—when it makes the Lord its God, when it belongs to Him.
Israel is described as God's chosen inheritance—a nation set apart to be in covenant relationship with Him. The psalmist is saying that national security and flourishing aren't found in military might or natural resources; they're found in alignment with God.
