When God stretched out the heavens and drew the horizon as a circle on the ocean, Wisdom was right there working alongside Him.

Isaiah 40:22 uses this same image of God stretching out the heavens like a canopy. Wisdom here is revealed as part of that magnificent creative act.
When God established the heavens and drew the cosmic boundary (the horizon or vault of sky), Wisdom was present and active in this foundational work.
*כּוֹן* (kon, 'establish,' 'make firm') is the verb of creation; *חוּק* (chok, 'inscribe' or 'mark out') suggests purposeful delineation. The *circle on the face of the deep* may reference the apparent circular horizon from which ancient cosmologies worked, or the cosmic vault that separates upper and lower waters in Genesis 1.
Wisdom transitions from passive existence to active participation in creation—she becomes not merely preexistent but functionally involved in God's creative acts.
This movement toward active participation foreshadows later Christian Logos theology where divine reason/word actively constitutes reality; it also parallels Job 38-39 where God's wisdom is demonstrated in the particulars of creation's architecture.
25Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth,
26before He made the land or fields, or any of the dust of the earth.
27I was there when He established the heavens, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28when He established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep gushed forth,
29when He set a boundary for the sea, so that the waters would not surpass His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth.
