Jesus said, 'Pray that God sends more workers into the fields, because the need is overwhelming.'
Before sending His disciples out, Jesus first asks them to pray. The mission begins on your knees.
Jesus, asking you to pray for the mission.
This is an invitation that still stands today: pray for more people to carry God's love to a hurting world.
Jesus commands His disciples to pray (deethete) to the kurios tou therismou (Lord of the harvest) to ekballo (send out/thrust out) workers into the harvest field.
The strong verb ekballo (cast out/drive out) suggests urgency; the same word used for casting out demons is used for sending workers.

This prayer request immediately precedes Jesus' own answer to it: in chapter 10, He sends out the Twelve as the first harvest workers.
36When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

38Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”
