Signs of the End

The master comes back on a day the servant doesn't expect, at a time he never anticipated. The very delay he counted on becomes his undoing.
This is the twist in the story: the delay wasn't a green light to do whatever you want. It was a test of what you'd do when you thought no one was watching.

The day he was sure would never come... comes. All those assumptions about having plenty of time? Wrong. The master is home.
The master returns on 'a day he does not expect' (hēmera hē ou prosdoka) and 'an hour he does not anticipate' (hōra hē ou ginōskei). The double emphasis on unexpectedness proves the wicked servant's core assumption fatally wrong. The delayed return was not absence but patience.
