For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:50 · Berean Standard Bible
Jesus declares: whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother, My sister, and My mother. Faith and obedience make you family.
This is one of the most inclusive things Jesus ever said. You do not need the right bloodline or background. If you follow God's will, you belong to Jesus' family.
Jesus makes a universal declaration.
Jesus throws the door wide open: you do not need a special pedigree to be His family. Just do the will of His Father, and you are in. Brother, sister, mother -- you are family.
Jesus states the principle: 'whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother' (hostis gar an poiese to thelema tou patros mou), universalizing spiritual kinship to all who obey God.
This declaration creates an inclusive, non-biological basis for the deepest form of human relationship. It democratizes family membership in God's kingdom based on obedience to the Father's will.
Jesus articulates the principle of spiritual family to the crowd.
Jesus seals the redefinition of family with a universal principle: doing God's will makes anyone -- regardless of birth, ethnicity, or social status -- a member of His intimate family.

49Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers.
50For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
