Jesus points to His disciples and says: here are My mother and My brothers. The people who follow Him are His true family.
Jesus is not being cold toward His biological family. He is elevating something even deeper: the bond created by shared faith and obedience to God.

Jesus reaches out His hand toward His followers and says: this is My family. If you follow Jesus, you belong to the most important family there is.
Jesus gestures toward His disciples (tous mathetas autou) and identifies them as His mother and brothers, establishing a new kinship community based on discipleship rather than biology.
The physical gesture (ekteinas ten cheira) adds dramatic emphasis. By pointing to His disciples, Jesus creates a visible, embodied illustration of the new spiritual family He is forming.
