Beyond the Boundaries
Once again Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “All of you, listen to Me and understand: Mark 7:14 · Berean Standard Bible
Then Jesus turns to the whole crowd and says, 'Listen to me, everyone, and make sure you understand this.'
He's done debating with the Pharisees. Now he has something important for everyone to hear — and it's going to change how they think about purity and defilement.
Jesus addresses the broader crowd with an important teaching.
Jesus shifts from confrontation to instruction. What he's about to say is for everyone — and it's going to challenge everything they've been taught about what makes someone 'clean' or 'unclean.'
Jesus now turns from the Pharisees to address the crowd (ochlon) with a solemn double imperative: 'Listen to me, all of you, and understand' (Akousate mou pantes kai synete). This shifts from critique to constructive teaching on the nature of true defilement.
The public address indicates that what follows is intended as authoritative teaching for all, not just a private rebuttal. The command to 'understand' signals the revolutionary nature of what comes next.

14Once again Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “All of you, listen to Me and understand:
15Nothing that enters a man from the outside can defile him; but the things that come out of a man, these are what defile him.”
