The woman didn't earn forgiveness through love. Her love was the overflow of having already been forgiven. Understanding what you've been given changes everything.

The depth of your love for Jesus is directly connected to your awareness of how much you've been forgiven. If your faith feels cold, maybe it's time to remember what you've been rescued from.
Jesus' conclusion: hou charin... hai hamartiai autēs hai pollai aphewntai, hoti ēgapēsen poly ("her many sins have been forgiven — for she loved much"). The love is evidence of prior forgiveness, not its cause. The contrasting principle: hō de oligon aphietai, oligon agapa ("the one forgiven little, loves little").
The grammar is crucial: 'for' (hoti) introduces evidence, not cause. Her great love proves she has been greatly forgiven — the parable already established that forgiveness produces love, not the reverse.
Jesus delivers the theological conclusion, explaining the relationship between forgiveness and love.
This verse crystallizes the entire episode: the woman's extravagant love is not the means of earning forgiveness but the evidence that she has already received it. Simon's lovelessness correspondingly reveals his failure to grasp his own need for grace.
