Hometown Rejection

Jesus moved on to Capernaum, a town by the Sea of Galilee, and continued teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbath.
When Nazareth rejected Jesus, He didn't stop—He simply moved to Capernaum and kept going. Rejection doesn't stop God's plan; it just redirects it.
Luke describes Jesus starting fresh in a new town after His hometown rejection.
Nazareth's loss becomes Capernaum's gain. Jesus doesn't waste time mourning rejection—He moves to where people are ready to listen. The mission continues, unstoppable.
Jesus descends (katēlthen) to Capernaum in Galilee and teaches (ēn didaskōn) on the Sabbath. Capernaum becomes His new base of operations after Nazareth's rejection.
Capernaum, located on the Sea of Galilee's northwest shore, was a fishing and trade center. It becomes Jesus' adopted hometown (Matthew 4:13) and the hub of His Galilean ministry.

Rejected by Nazareth, Jesus establishes His ministry headquarters in Capernaum. The pattern He described—a prophet without honor at home—now plays out in His own relocation. Ministry continues despite rejection.
29They got up, drove Him out of the town, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw Him over the cliff.
30But Jesus passed through the crowd and went on His way.
