The women hurried back from the tomb and told everything to the eleven apostles and everyone else who was gathered.
God chose these women to be the very first people to share the news of the resurrection — an extraordinary honor in that culture.
Luke narrates the women's return and their report to the disciples.
They didn't keep this to themselves. They ran back and told everyone. When you encounter something life-changing, you can't help but share it.
The women return from the tomb and report (Greek: apēngeilan, 'announced formally') everything to the Eleven and all the other disciples.
Luke identifies the women as the first witnesses and evangelists of the resurrection, a remarkable detail given that women's testimony was generally inadmissible in first-century Jewish courts.
The narrator recounts the women's report to the gathered disciples.
The women become the first heralds of the resurrection, carrying the most important message in history to the remaining apostles and the broader community of followers.
7‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’”
8Then they remembered His words.
9And when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles.
11But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.
