Jesus declares the kingdom is not 'here' or 'there' but 'in your midst' (entos hymōn). The phrase entos hymōn is debated — it may mean 'within you' (internal spiritual reality) or 'among you' (present in Jesus's person and ministry).

Language and setting

Given that Jesus addresses Pharisees (unlikely candidates for 'within you'), 'among you' or 'in your midst' is the more probable meaning — the kingdom is present in Jesus Himself.
