Jesus' own brothers tell Him to go to Judea and show off His miracles to a bigger audience. They think He needs better marketing.
Even Jesus' family did not fully understand Him. They saw the miracles but missed the mission.
Jesus' brothers speak to Him with advice that sounds practical but misses the point entirely.
It must have been painful to be misunderstood by your own family. They wanted Jesus to be famous. He wanted to be faithful. Those are two very different goals.
Jesus' brothers (adelphoi) urge Him to leave Galilee for Judea so His disciples there can witness His erga (works), essentially pressuring Him toward public self-promotion.
The brothers' advice reflects a worldly understanding of messiahship: if you have power, display it publicly. Their counsel parallels Satan's temptation to demonstrate power for acclaim (Matthew 4:5-6).
Jesus' biological brothers address Him, offering pragmatic but spiritually misguided counsel about how to advance His public ministry.
Jesus' own family tries to manage His career. Their advice sounds reasonable on the surface but betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of His mission. He did not come for publicity; He came for redemption.

4For no one who wants to be known publicly acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.”
5For even His own brothers did not believe in Him.
