The scholarly reading

Jesus defines the one who loves Him: it is the person who has His commandments and keeps them. Such a person will be loved by the Father, loved by Jesus, and Jesus will 'reveal' (emphanizō) Himself to them.

Language and setting

The verb emphanizō implies a personal, intimate self-disclosure, not a public spectacle. Obedience opens the door to deeper revelation and relational intimacy with both the Father and the Son.
