The Hour Has Come
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everyone to Myself.” John 12:32 · Berean Standard Bible
Jesus says that when He is lifted up on the cross, He will draw everyone to Himself. The cross is not an ending; it is a magnetic force of love pulling every heart toward Him.
This answers the Greeks' request to see Jesus. The way they, and all people, will truly 'see' Him is through the cross. His death opens the door for the entire world, not just one nation.

The cross, the most shameful form of execution in the ancient world, becomes the most beautiful invitation in history. Lifted up in death, Jesus becomes visible to all the world, and His love draws people from every nation, language, and background.
The phrase 'lifted up' (hypsōthō) carries a double meaning in John: physical elevation on the cross and spiritual exaltation in glory. The universal scope ('draw everyone,' pantas) includes Gentiles.
This is the third 'lifting up' saying in John (cf. 3:14, 8:28). The verb 'draw' (helkysō) implies powerful attraction rather than coercion, reflecting God's initiative in salvation.

Jesus reveals that the cross will become a magnet for all humanity. When He is lifted up in crucifixion, He will not repel people but draw them, Jew and Gentile alike, to Himself. The instrument of shame becomes the instrument of universal salvation.

31Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.
32And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everyone to Myself.”
33He said this to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.
34The crowd replied, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ will remain forever. So how can You say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”
