Jesus adds the Father's protection on top of His own, creating an unshakable promise of security.
Jesus isn't just saying He'll protect you. He's saying the almighty God of the universe has you in His hand too. You're doubly held, doubly safe.
Jesus adds a second layer of security: the Father, who is 'greater than all' (meizōn pantōn), has given the sheep to Jesus, and no one can snatch them from the Father's hand either.
The double security—in Christ's hand and the Father's hand—creates an unbreakable guarantee. The textual variant between 'ho...meizōn' (who is greater) and 'ho...meizon' (that which is greater) does not alter the fundamental meaning.
Jesus grounds the sheep's security not only in His own power but in the Father's supreme authority.
Jesus reveals the ultimate basis of believers' security: they are held not only in Christ's hand but simultaneously in the Father's hand, creating a double guarantee that nothing can breach.
27My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.
28I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.
