The Good Shepherd

Jesus gives an incredible promise: 'I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.'
This is one of the most comforting promises in all of Scripture. If you belong to Jesus, your security is guaranteed by His grip, not yours.
Jesus speaks one of the most powerful assurances of eternal security in the Bible.
Let this sink in: Jesus doesn't say you hold onto Him. He says He holds onto you. And His hand is one that nothing and no one can pry open.
Jesus promises 'zōēn aiōnion' (eternal life) to His sheep and guarantees their absolute security: they will 'never perish' (ou mē apolōntai eis ton aiōna), and no one can snatch (harpazō) them from His hand.
The double negative 'ou mē' combined with 'eis ton aiōna' creates the strongest possible assurance. 'Harpazō' (snatch/seize violently) suggests that even forceful opposition cannot separate believers from Christ.
Jesus declares the eternal security of His sheep with the strongest possible language.
Jesus makes one of the New Testament's most powerful promises of perseverance: His sheep receive eternal life as a gift, and no force in the universe can remove them from His protective grasp.
26But because you are not My sheep, you refuse to believe.
27My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.
28I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.
29My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
30I and the Father are one.”
