The Word Made Flesh
Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:3 · Berean Standard Bible
Everything that exists was made through Him — absolutely nothing was created without Him.
Every star, every mountain, every living thing — it all came into being through Jesus. The one who walked dusty roads in sandals is the same one who made the universe.
John declares that Jesus is the Creator of all things.
The hands that would one day be nailed to a cross are the same hands that shaped the cosmos. That's how John wants you to understand who Jesus really is.
All things (Greek: panta) came into existence through the Word, and without Him nothing was made that has come into being.
This verse ascribes the role of creation mediator to the Logos, paralleling Colossians 1:16 and Hebrews 1:2. The double statement (positive and negative) creates an absolute, exception-free claim.
The evangelist attributes all of creation to the agency of the Word.
The Word is not merely divine in nature but is the active agent through whom the entire created order came into existence. Nothing in the cosmos exists apart from His creative work.
