You're God's child right now, but your transformation isn't complete—you haven't yet seen what you'll become. When Christ returns and you see Him face to face, you'll finally become fully like Him.

The Christians John is addressing are living in the 'already but not yet'—they've tasted new life in Christ but still experience struggle, sin, and mortality. They need hope that this isn't all there is. John is reminding them their story continues.
