The Greek phrase 'gymnos kai tetrachēlismenon' (naked and with neck exposed) evokes the image of a victim laid out, vulnerable, unable to hide. For the original audience, this visceral language was meant to sober them: their internal hypocrisy, their suppressed doubts, their quiet compromises—all are visible. There is no privacy before God.
