When Shelah was 30 years old, he became the father of Eber.
Shelah also fathered his son relatively young. The ages are normalizing as you move forward in time—these patriarchs are having children in their 30s rather than their 60s or 70s, which suggests human biology is gradually shifting toward what we experience now.

Eber's significance lies in his position as ancestor to the Hebrews (עִבְרִים, ʿibrîm)—a title deriving from this very name.
