The seventh son of Jacob, born to Leah’s handmaid Zilpah. Jacob prophesied that Gad would be attacked by raiders but would ultimately overcome. The tribe of Gad settled east of the Jordan and was known for producing fierce warriors—‘brave warriors, ready for battle, who could handle shield and spear.’

Children born in rivalry and heartbreak. But these names — Reuben, Judah, Joseph — will become the twelve tribes of a nation.
Gad will be attacked by raiders, but he will attack their heels.
Jacob speaks over each son with prophetic weight. Judah receives the scepter. The lion will come from his line.
