God will rescue you from deception and death—the snare represents traps meant to catch you, and plague represents sudden, overwhelming danger.
Hunters used snares and nets to catch birds and animals. For the original listeners, plague was a real and terrifying threat they'd likely witnessed. The writer is saying God protects you from both intentional harm and things beyond your control.
The psalmist, now speaking with confidence about what God does for those who trust Him.
This connects to God's protective role throughout Israel's history—from protecting them in Egypt to delivering them from their enemies. It shows that God's care isn't theoretical; it's active and real.

The psalmist continues as guarantor of God's protection, moving from personal declaration to specific divine action—the promise becomes operative.
This language appears throughout Proverbs and prophetic literature as the contrast between the wise person (protected) and the foolish (ensnared). It establishes a theological principle later refined in Romans 3:11-18: sin itself is the ultimate 'snare,' and only God's intervention rescues.
