Meditation on Scripture and God's works is a spiritual discipline throughout the Bible—it's how you move from crisis thinking to truth thinking.
The psalmist commits to sustained contemplation of God's works and 'mighty deeds,' deepening the practice of remembrance announced in verse 11.
The parallel construction ('reflect...ponder') employs verbs of extended meditation—'siach' and 'hagah.' The term 'alilot' (deeds) carries the sense of God's wondrous actions that manifest His character. This verse emphasizes the labor involved: remembrance is not passive nostalgia but active contemplative practice. The Church Fathers, particularly Augustine in his *Confessions*, recognized that deliberate recollection of God's acts requires sustained intellectual and spiritual effort—what scholastic theology would call 'meditatio.'
