Come and witness what God actually does—His power isn't theoretical; you can see it in history and reality.
The invitation here is important. The psalmist isn't asking you to believe blindly; he's saying look at the evidence. God's actions in history—deliverance, judgment, protection—are observable. See them, remember them, let them reshape your understanding.

This invitation continues through Scripture—'taste and see that the Lord is good,' 'consider the works of God'—because faith isn't disconnected from reality. You follow God because you see His faithfulness, not in spite of evidence.
The psalm invites testimony: come and observe what God has done in history—He brings both judgment and devastation to those who oppose His will.
The imperative 'come, see' (bou re'u) is hortatory, inviting liturgical participation—worshippers gathered in the temple are summoned to remember or witness God's mighty acts. The willingness to acknowledge that God 'brings devastation' (shomotnot, ruins, desolations) shows theological sophistication: faith does not deny suffering but attributes it to divine purpose rather than chance or enemy superiority.

This foreshadows how early Christians read Old Testament judgment narratives as prefiguring Christ's cross: not punishment absent redemptive purpose, but judgment that serves salvation's larger arc. Hebrews 12:6 cites Proverbs 3:12 to argue that God's correction proves His paternal love.
