Language and setting

The verb 'galal' (roll or cast) carries the sense of relinquishing burden and responsibility—literally rolling your way onto God, as one would roll a stone onto someone. This required extraordinary trust in a context where political and economic forces seemed arrayed against the faithful. The promise 'He will do it' (ya'aseh) assures agency resides ultimately with the divine, not human effort.
