Language and setting

The dual negatives — 'Do not set foot' and 'do not walk' (אַל־תָּבֹא בְאֹרַח רְשָׁעִים וְאַל־תֵּלֶךְ בְּדֶרֶךְ רָעִים, al-tavo b'orach reshaim v'al-telech b'derekh ra'im) — employ different terms for 'path' (orach and derekh) to suggest both the habitual route and the ultimate destination/trajectory. The person is not merely forbidden from committing wicked acts but from even adopting the wicked's entire orientation toward life.
