Why it's here

Paul is describing people whose entire value system is backwards. Instead of worshiping God, they worship food, comfort, and pleasure. Instead of being ashamed of sin, they glory in it. Their 'minds are set on earthly things'—they've given their attention, energy, and hope entirely to what doesn't last. For Paul, this isn't cruelty; it's a compassionate diagnosis of spiritual death.
