A man with leprosy, completely outcast from society, knelt before Jesus and said, 'If You're willing, You can heal me.'
This man had lost everything: his health, his community, his dignity. Coming to Jesus was his last hope.
A desperate leper, reaching out to Jesus.
This is the first person Jesus heals after the Sermon, and he's someone everyone else had given up on.
A lepros (leper) approaches Jesus with faith expressed conditionally: 'If You are willing' (ean theles), acknowledging Jesus' power while submitting to His sovereign will.
Lepers were ritually unclean under Leviticus 13-14, excluded from community and worship; approaching Jesus was a desperate, boundary-crossing act.

3Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4Then Jesus instructed him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift prescribed by Moses, as a testimony to them.”
