The Last Supper

Jesus is in Bethany, staying at the home of a man called Simon the Leper — a quiet pause before the storm.
Bethany was a place of friendship and rest for Jesus, close to Jerusalem but away from the tension. Simon was likely someone Jesus had healed.

Before the betrayal and the cross, there is this — a meal among friends in a home where Jesus is welcome and loved.
The scene shifts to Bethany and the house of Simon the Leper, establishing the setting for the anointing narrative that interrupts the Passion plot.
Simon the Leper (ho lepros) was likely healed by Jesus previously; his designation preserves his former identity. Bethany, about two miles from Jerusalem, served as Jesus' base during His final week.
