Jesus introduces the parable of the faithful servant with a rhetorical question: who is the 'faithful and wise' (pistos kai phronimos) servant? This servant is entrusted (katestēsen) by the master to manage the household (oiketeia) and distribute food (trophēn) at the proper time (kairō). Faithfulness is defined by responsible stewardship during the master's absence.
