The king tells his servants, 'The feast is ready, but the people I invited didn't deserve it.'
Their refusal doesn't cancel the party — it opens the door for everyone else.
The king announces a dramatic shift in his invitation.
The original guests said no. So the king opens the doors to anyone who will come.
The king declares the original invitees 'not worthy' (ouk ēsan axioi) and pivots the invitation outward — a theological turning point representing the gospel going to all peoples.
The unworthiness of the first guests opens the door for an unprecedented expansion of the invitation beyond the expected recipients.
