The kingdom is compared to a king (basilei) who prepares a wedding feast (gamous) for his son — a royal banquet representing God's eschatological celebration of Messiah's coming.
The wedding banquet is a common Jewish metaphor for the messianic age; the king-son imagery points to God the Father and Jesus the Son.
