Finally, the owner sends his own son, thinking, 'Surely they'll respect my son.'
After every messenger was rejected, God sent His Son. It was His last and greatest offer.
The owner makes one final, deeply personal decision.
When nothing else worked, the owner sent the person he loved most. That's what God did when He sent Jesus.
Finally (hysteron), the owner sends his son, reasoning 'they will respect my son' (entrapēsontai ton huion mou) — this represents God sending Jesus as His ultimate and final messenger.
The transition from servants to son marks a qualitative leap: Jesus is not merely another prophet but the Son, God's definitive word to Israel.

38But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’
39So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
